Understand the importance of cytology including the structure of a typical plant cell, specific plant cells and growth of the cells.

The learner will learn and identify the structure of seeds, germination, seed dormancy and seed assessment.

Understand and learn the structure of the plant stem, root and leaves as well as the, functions, development and modified stems, root and leaves.

The learner will be able to understand plant reproduction including asexual and sexual reproduction.

 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 6

The learner will be able to learn and understand plant physiology which includes diffusion, osmosis, functions of water, photosynthesis, respiration, carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, trace elements and factors which affect development and yields.

The learner will be able to identify and understand microflora such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, parasitism, symbiosis and modes of nutrition.

 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 8

Learn and understand genetics which includes the cell, cell division, genes, terms, work of Mendel, sex determination, sex linkage, gene mutations, lethal genes, effects of the environment, hybrid vigour and heritability.

 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 9

Learn and understand the animal kingdom, animal cells and the classification of the animal kingdom

 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 10

Understand other animals which affect an animal’s health such as protozoa, plathyhelminthes, other worms, anthropoda and phylum chordate.
