Identify and understand the different types and cultivars of maize.

Understand the implications of irrigated and dryland maize as well as the different production forms such as maize for seed and silage.

Understand the soil nutrient, fertilisation and land preparation requirements for maize production.

Identify and understanding the appropriate planting strategy, weed, pest and disease control
systems for maize production.

Identify the most appropriate harvesting, handling and marketing strategy for maize.
