Understand the different artificial methods of calf rearing and the important aspects of whole milk feeding and housing.

The learner will be able to manage the early weaning system and gain knowledge in the alternative systems of calf rearing.

The learner will be able to implement a milk substitute feeding programme and gain the necessary knowledge for veal production.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 7

The learner will be able to identify and understand the routine tasks in calf rearing such as earmarking, castration, dehorning, environmental requirements and disease management.

Understand and implement post weaning management for heifers and steers.
